NOMINATIONS FOR 2022 AWARDS ARE NOW CLOSED

The following information will guide you on how to nominate in the 2022 Australian Corporate Lawyers Awards, and the stages your nomination will proceed through.

Who can nominate?

Anyone can be nominated in a category of which they are eligible. You do not have to be an ACC member to be nominated. You can self-nominate or nominate another party. This means all persons with legal qualifications who are employed by corporate, government or semi-government bodies, including statutory corporations in Australia.

Award judges and their companies are not eligible. Members of the ACC Australia Board of Directors and Divisional Committee office holders are not eligible for individual awards, but they may be members of an award-winning team.

How to nominate

Please use the online nomination portal to make your nomination. 

You will be asked to provide a brief bio and photo in your nomination. The photo is not an essential requirement. It will be used, if required, for marketing purposes should your nomination be shortlisted. 

Other than contact details for the nominator and nominee, you will be asked to submit a nomination statement. 

  • Your nomination should be no longer than 500 words.
  • It should address the criteria as set out in the description of the award category.

Who judges the nominations?

Each category has its own dedicated judging panel. Panels will be made of a minimum of four judges. Judging panels will be approved by the ACC Australia. Judging panels have been reviewed and approved by the ACC Australia Awards Committee and Board of Directors.  

Judges will excuse themselves in the case of any nominations presenting a perceived conflict of interest, and a new judge will be appointed.
 

What happens to nominations?

Upon the close-off date for nominations on 9 September:

  • The online application form will close.
  • Nominations will be forwarded to all judges in each category.
  • Judges will use a standardised template to assess nominations, with each nomination receiving a score out of 100.
  • Judging scorecards will be sent to the Awards Administrator for consolidation on a single category scorecard.
  • The top three scoring nominations will be deemed “finalists”. 
  • In the case of a 3rd/4th tie, the judging panel on that category will confer to select three clear finalists. In the case where three clear finalists cannot be agreed, the judging panel will have the discretion to name four finalists.
  • All finalists will be announced on 6 October 2022.
  • Finalists will have two weeks to provide additional supporting materials of up to 10 pages (no smaller than 10 pitch font) of written and 10 minutes viewing/listening of video/audio supporting materials (should they choose).
  • The judging panel will be sent final submissions for review.
  • All judging panels will have a final meeting to discuss the merits of each submission.
  • Each judge will submit their final score to the Awards Administrator.
  • Only the Awards Administrator and Marketing team will be aware of the final winners in each category.

Announcement of Winners

  • Winners will be announced at the 2022  Australian Corporate Lawyer Awards Ceremony and Dinner on Thursday 17 November at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Rights and Expectations of Winners

  • All winners, are expected to participate in a future judging panel in the category they were awarded.
