ACC congratulates Caren Ulrich Stacy, founder of Diversity Lab and the OnRamp Fellowship, on her selection as the 2016 recipient of the Martha Fay Africa Golden Hammer Award.

WASHINGTON (February 8, 2016) –– The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), a global legal association representing more than 40,000 in-house lawyers in 85 countries, congratulates Caren Ulrich Stacy, founder of Diversity Lab and the OnRamp Fellowship, on her selection as the 2016 recipient of the Martha Fay Africa Golden Hammer Award, presented Friday evening by the American Bar Association (ABA). ACC looks forward to continuing to work with Stacy later this year to establish a partnership involving the recently-launched ACC Women in the House (WITH) program and the ACC Foundation.

The ABA Women Rainmakers and ABA Law Practice Division Diversity & Inclusion Committee recognized Stacy for her work founding the Diversity Lab and its hallmark project, the OnRamp Fellowship. The program connects women who seek to re-enter the legal and business workforce with law firms, financial industry companies and corporate legal departments through paid fellowships.

"Caren has been a long-standing industry thought leader who has a proven ability to implement programs that impact the lives of diverse lawyers in so many positive ways," said Veta T. Richardson, ACC president and CEO. "ACC is enthused to be working with Diversity Lab and the OnRamp Fellowship to increase opportunities for diverse attorneys within the in-house community."

The OnRamp Fellowship launched in 2014 with four law firms and has now grown to include 25 major law firms, the corporate legal department at Amazon and the compliance department at Barclays. The organizations have hired 35 fellows and 85 percent of fellows who complete the year-long program have received full-time offers to return to practicing law.

In June, Stacy will host the inaugural "Women in Law Hackathon" with Stanford Law and Bloomberg Law, a "Shark Tank"-style pitch competition where 54 law firm partners, working in teams, will present innovative ideas to boost the advancement and retention of women lawyers at firms. Stacy is also an adjunct professor at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and the author of Loyalty by Design: A Practical Guide for Developing an Effective Attorney Integration Program.
