Benefits of Membership

We pride ourselves in knowing what in-house counsel want to learn, to hear, to advocate and to participate in. We believe we know how to organise activities to meet these needs. We are going from strength to strength and now have over 800 members.

Over the last year we organised over 40 CPD seminars, hosted a number of social events, and endorsed numerous conferences which ACC Hong Kong members can attend at exclusive discounts.

In order to attend any of our events, you must become a member. All ACC Hong Kong organised events are free for members.

Some of the benefits of membership are:

  • ACC Hong Kong CPD accredited seminars, conferences and workshops

We organise over 30 CPD events each year. ACC Hong Kong works with local and international law firms and other organisations to come up with a topic that we think would be of interest to our members, and we ask them to provide a speaker, a venue (often in their offices, but sometimes in a hotel, club or conference space), lunch (ranging from simple sandwiches to gourmet sit-down meals) and to apply for CPD points. Our past venues include the Four Seasons Hotel and the Hong Kong Club. Attendance at the seminars can range, depending on the topic and space available, from a dozen to more than 50 people. All ACC Hong Kong organised events are free.

  • Access at discounted rates to many local and regional conferences

We offer access to many local and regional conferences, seminars and other continuing legal education events either free of charge or at a substantial discount to members. For several of these events, we assist in selecting topics and panel speakers.

  • Exclusive social events

We organise social events, such as cocktail parties, junk trips, nights at the races, and other social events, where in-house counsel can meet each other in an informal setting.

  • Networking

The many and varied social functions and continuing legal education events held by ACC Hong Kong provide an ideal opportunity for members to network with their colleagues and peers.

  • Resources

In the Resources section of our website, members can find information about how to subscribe to receive daily or weekly news feeds and other updates on a range of legal topics from a number of service providers selected by ACC Hong Kong for the quality of their content.

  • Members Only Resources (login required)

In the members only section of our website you can find details of the arrangements we have with a number of leading international law firms for ACC Hong Kong members to have access rights to online services, many of which are fully customizable and further enhance our members access to cutting-edge knowledge resources.

Members also have access to copies of presentations given at our events.

  • Email alerts / invitation to events

ACC Hong Kong sends out emails to its members informing them about upcoming events, providing links to select resources, etc.

  • International Network

An ACC Hong Kong membership is your gateway to a global in-house community of 46,000 in-house counsel in 85 countries. Through our global networks, communities and member directory, our members are linked to their peers around the globe.

  • Advocacy with Government and Regulatory Bodies

ACC Hong Kong maintains effective relationships with the Hong Kong Law Society, and provides guidance on law reform proposals and other issues affecting in-house lawyers, as required, from time to time. We have two representatives on the Law Society's Sub-Committee for Employed Lawyers, which was charged with drafting a new Practice Direction on the permitted scope of activities for in-house counsel. We also comment from time to time on consultation papers issued by the government on topics of interest to in-house counsel and their employers.

  • Publication Discounts

We work with various publishers, such as Asia Law and Practice, Sweet & Maxwell and Butterworths/LexisNexis, to arrange special discounts for our members.
