This article discusses the competitive nature of the FinTech industry. In particular, it describes the importance of devising a strategy to protect the products of one’s innovation and efforts.

Consequently, the need to protect developments in FinTech is critical. A method to protect one’s FinTech products is through copyright laws (as FinTech products naturally fall under intellectual property rights). As such, under Hong Kong’s Intellectual Property (IP) laws, one can utilize mechanisms such as patent, copyright, trademark, and trade secrets to protect their FinTech products and innovations.
