Virna Trout, Head of Legal, Australia & Asia Regions, FLSmidth

Virna is an accomplished lawyer and governance expert with over 15 years’ experience in senior in house legal roles.  Commencing her inhouse career with Mount Isa Mines in 1995, Virna has held numerous roles, working for mining companies in Australia and international locations, as well as consultants and suppliers of goods and services to mining companies.  As Head of Legal for FLSmidth (a Danish, publicly listed company that designs, manufactures and delivers engineered projects, products and service solutions to the mining and cement industries, Virna’s areas of practices range across commercial contracts, governance, construction law, M&A and employment/industrial law. Committed to providing pragmatic, timely & risk focussed strategic legal solutions she is equally passionate about the resources sector and the role of inhouse legal counsel.  Virna fully understands the challenges and stresses inherent in the role and hopes that she can provide you all with some valuable tips regardless of how long you have/have not been in the profession!
