During the pandemic, countries like South Korea, Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, Italy and China have been able to mitigate large-scale economic disruption due to their advanced levels of digital connectivity. The digital realm amplifies brand value. At the same time, it makes IP more vulnerable to theft through greater ease of counterfeit and copying. Understanding the value of IP assets and ensuring IP assets are adequately protected will be essential for businesses going digital. This panel will discuss trends and issues in IP under the new normal.

Confronted with the issues that arise at the intersection of technology, innovation and intellectual property law, this panel discusses on how to deal with the perceived clashes between new technologies and existing IP frameworks.  For example, as countries continue to race towards more innovation and disruptive solutions, firms may inadvertently tread into murky waters in areas such as privacy, fake news and intellectual property.
