    2023 Chief Legal Officers Survey

The 2023 ACC Chief Legal Officers Survey, conducted in partnership with Exterro, seeks to better understand the role of the CLO in the modern business environment. The survey covers four general topics: the role and reach of the CLO, the value of the legal department to the company, the political and regulatory landscape, and the outlook for the legal department in the coming year.

Almost 900 general counsel and chief legal officers from 35 countries representing 20 industry sectors participated in the survey. The results continue to bring focus to the immense value that Legal brings to the business, the growing influence of the CLO within the company's leadership, and the increase in CLO oversight of various corporate functions.

General Counsel Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Survey

The General Counsel Oath was introduced in August 2020 by Simon Zinger and endorsed by ACC soon thereafter. Suggesting a set of personal commitments that go beyond professional responsibility, the Oath provides a leadership roadmap for individuals in the most senior legal and compliance roles covering diversity, equity & inclusion (DE&I), social impact and pro bono, and behavior within organizations and towards external parties.

The General Counsel DE&I Survey was launched in September 2022 to assess the impact and sentiment of GC and CLOs from around the world in diversity, equity & inclusion. This survey report includes feedback from 232 participants from all over the world on (i) the GC and CLOs' individual progress to impact the legal team in this area, (ii) the wider organizational progress in DE&I initiatives, and (iii) the progress made by law firms in offering diverse teams.

    2022 State of Cybersecurity Report

The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Foundation, in collaboration with Ernst & Young, LLP, is pleased to present the 2022 State of Cybersecurity Report, An In-house Perspective. In its fourth edition, this report sheds light on the growing influence that legal departments are having on organization-wide cybersecurity and risk reduction strategies.

The results reveal that the legal department plays an increasingly important role in cybersecurity strategy and that the chief legal officer (CLO) is often front and center. One out of five companies now have a dedicated cybersecurity lawyer, and respondents report growing cross-functional collaboration among legal, IT, security, and other business units to anticipate and effectively respond to cybersecurity threats.
