Loyola Project for the Innocent

ACC-SoCal Pro Bono Committee and Jenner & Block will be partnering with Loyola Project for the Innocent on Tuesday June 4 from 4:00 to 6:30 pm. Jenner & Block LA is hosting this event at their offices located at 633 W 5^th St, Ste 3500, Los Angeles 90071.

Loyola Project for the Innocent staff and volunteers, ACC attorneys, and Jenner & Block attorneys specializing in this area of law will join together in a day of service. The June 4, 2024, event will commence with a facilitated CLE training by Laurie L. Levenson, Professor of Law, David W. Burcham, Chair in Ethical Advocacy and Founder of Innocent Project, on how to screen innocence cases to find meritorious ones, followed by a hands-on review of hundreds of case files to determine which ones to pursue. By reviewing information provided by the prisoner, legal documents including appellate briefs and decisions, and evidence from the prisoner’s trial, and with the direction of LPI staff, we will, among other actions, determine what case files are proper to pursue.

The event will have opportunities for those who have volunteered to assist LPI in the past as well as those for whom this is a new pro bono opportunity.

At the conclusion of the June 4 event, ACC attorneys in attendance will learn about other opportunities  to continue their advocacy efforts and partner with Loyola Project for the Innocent staff and/or other law firm attorney specialists. 

This event is in-person only and open to in-house practitioners as well as legal department staff. Please make sure to include your CA Bar Number on your registration if you would like CLE credit.
